Parekh was born in 1946, into the Gujarati Baniya family of Banvantray Kalyanji Parekh in Mumbai, India.
His late father, Balvant Parekh, founded the company in 1959, and Parekh and his family own a majority stake in it.
Education
Madhukar earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical technology from the University of Mumbai’s Department of Chemical Technology and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1969.
Following his master’s degree, he went to work for Abbot Laboratories in the United States.
Career
Parekh is the chairman and managing director of Vinyl Chemicals India Limited, as well as an Excel Industries Limited independent non-executive director.
He also works for Pidilite Industries and Vinyl Chemicals India Ltd as an Executive Director.
