Career

In 2009, Blevins began playing Halo 3 professionally. Cloud9, Renegades, Team Liquid, and, most recently, Luminosity Gaming were among the teams he played for. In 2011, Blevins started streaming.

He started with H1Z1 before moving on to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. In 2017, he joined Luminosity Gaming as a Halo player, then moved on to H1Z1, and finally PUBG, where he won the PUBG Gamescom Invitational Squads classification in August 2017.

Shortly after the PUBG Gamescom Invitational, Blevins began broadcasting the freshly launched Fortnite Battle Royale.

Over the late 2017/early 2018 era, his audience began to rise in tandem with the game’s popularity. By March 2018, his Twitch followers had risen from 500,000 in September 2017 to over 2 million.

Blevins became the first Twitch streamer to reach 3 million followers in March of this year. Later that month, while playing Fortnite alongside Drake, Travis Scott, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, he broke the record for the highest concurrent viewership on an individual stream (outside of tournament events) with 635,000 viewers.

In June 2018, Blevins joined with Red Bull Esports and staged a unique Fortnite tournament in Chicago, the Red Bull Rise Till Dawn, where players could challenge him.

Blevins’ surge in Twitch popularity is said to be linked to the success of Fortnite Battle Royale in a synergistic way. In December 2018, Blevins believed he earned close to US$10 million in 2018, while Epic Games announced revenue of nearly US$3 billion for the year, owing mostly to Fortnite. In the same month, he became the first PC player to reach 5,000 Fortnite victories.

According to Reuters, Blevins was paid $1 million by Electronic Arts to promote Apex Legends, a rival battle royale game to Fortnite, by playing it on his Twitch show and promoting it on social media during the game’s February 2019 debut.

Blevins departed Twitch on August 1, 2019, to focus solely on Microsoft’s Mixer platform.

Blevins has over 24 million YouTube followers as of April 2021, in addition to a high amount of Twitch and Mixer users. He was earning over $500,000 per month from broadcasting Fortnite at the time, and he attributes this to the game’s free-to-play economic model.

Blevins was liberated from his exclusive arrangement due to Mixer’s demise in July 2020, allowing him to stream on other platforms. Blevins announced his return to Twitch broadcasting on September 10, 2020, after securing an exclusive multiyear agreement, and broadcasted on the platform the same day.
