Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan was born in Bombay on March 14, 1965, to film producers Tahir Hussain and Zeenat Hussain.
Khan is the oldest of four children, with a brother named Faisal and two sisters named Farhat and Nikhat. Imran Khan, his nephew, is a Bollywood star. Khan is also the second cousin of Abul Kalam Azad’s granddaughter, Najma Heptulla.
Dhobi Ghat, a Rao-directed art house film, was Khan’s home production released in 2011.
Education
Khan received his pre-primary education at J.B. Petit School, then transferred to St. Anne’s High School, Bandra, before the 18th grade, and finished his 9th and 10th grades at Bombay Scottish School, Mahim.
He said that he was “way more interested in sports than research.” Khan attended Mumbai’s Narsee Monjee College for his 12th grade.
Career
In the early 1990s, Khan acted in a number of other films.
Khan returned to the big screen in 2005, starring in Ketan Mehta’s Mangal Pandey: The Rising, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2006, Aamir Khan lent his support to the Narmada Bachao Andolan campaign, led by activist Medha Patkar, in their efforts to prevent the Sardar Sarovar Dam from being raised in height.

Khan applied for divorce in December 2002, and his wife Dutta was granted custody of both twins.
He is also linked to Abul Kalam Azad through his grandmother outside of the movie industry.
Khan married Kiran Rao on December 28, 2005, who had worked as Gowariker’s assistant director on the set of Lagaan. They announced the birth of their son, Azad Rao Khan, via a surrogate mother on December 5, 2011.
