Education
Sindhu attended St. Ann’s College for Women in Hyderabad and Auxilium High School in Hyderabad.
Career
Sindhu made her international debut at the age of 14.
At the 2009 Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships in Colombo, she won a bronze medal.
In June 2011, she defeated compatriot P.C. Thulasi to win the Maldives International Challenge.
Sindhu, who was 16 at the time, qualified for the All England Open Championships.
The Indian government presented Sindhu with the Arjun Award.
She came close to defeating Li Xuerui at the Asian Championships but lost 21–11, 19–21, and 8–21.
She won the Syed Modi International by defeating Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the final.
Sindhu reached her first final in over 18 months at the Swiss Open, however, she was defeated by Carolina Marn, losing 12–21, 5–21.
Sindhu defeated compatriot Malvika Bansod in the final to win the Syed Modi International for the second time. She went on to win the 2022 Swiss Open in two straight games, defeating Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the final.

Private & early life
Sindhu has worked with Bharat Petroleum as an associate sports manager in their Hyderabad office since July 2013.
She was appointed deputy sports manager after winning a silver medal at the Rio Olympics. She was named the company’s first brand ambassador in India.
The Andhra Pradesh government nominated her as Deputy Collector (Group-I) in July 2017, and she assumed responsibility in August.
She was the Indian contingent’s flag-bearer during the Commonwealth Games’ opening ceremony in 2018.
