Sebastian Stan is an actor who is both Romanian and American.
Beginning with Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011, he rose to prominence as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe media property.
He went on to play Captain America: The Winter Soldier in the movie Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, as well as the miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Stan was born on August 13, 1982, in the Romanian city of Constanța.
When he was two years old, his parents split.
Following the Romanian Revolution, Stan and his mother relocated to Vienna, Austria, where she worked as a pianist when he was eight years old.
After his mother married the headmaster of a school in the United States, they relocated to Rockland County, New York, four years later.
He was brought up in a Romanian Orthodox family.

Stan appeared in Harvey, Cyrano de Bergerac, Little Shop of Horrors, Over Here!, and West Side Story during his time at the Rockland school.
He also spent his summers at Stagedoor Manor, where he was cast in several camp performances.
He then decided to pursue acting professionally and began applying to acting schools at different institutions.

Stan is a supporter of a number of philanthropic organizations, including Our Big Day Out, a Romanian charity dedicated to improving the lives of children. On Instagram in February 2018, he thanked followers for their support of the organization’s fundraising and awareness efforts.
He’s also a supporter of Ronald McDonald House. He and his Marvel co-star Anthony Mackie attended the charity’s first Virtual Gala in 2020. Dramatic Need and Save the Children are two more organizations that Stan supports.
