Yusuff Ali, hailing from Nattika in Kerala, was born on November 15, 1955, into a Muslim family.

In 1973, he embarked on a new chapter by leaving India for Abu Dhabi. This move was driven by the presence of his paternal uncle, M K Abdullah, who was the chairman and founder of the renowned LuLu Group of Companies.

In the UAE, Yusuff Ali played a pivotal role in expanding the group’s import and wholesale distribution operations. He also ventured into the supermarket industry, launching the first Lulu Hypermarket in the 1990s.

This was a transformative period for the retail sector in the UAE, as traditional grocery stores and supermarkets gave way to larger, more expansive neighborhood stores and hypermarkets.
