Education
He completed his education with an MBBS at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, followed by an MD in radiology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute in Chennai.
At Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, he completed his radiology fellowship.
Career
Vayalil worked as a radiologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi, UAE, for a year.
He opened his first hospital, LLH Hospital, in Abu Dhabi, in 2007.
He began with one hospital in Abu Dhabi in 2007, backed by his wealthy father-in-law.
He is a member of the Kerala NRI Commission, which was formed in Kerala with quasi-judicial powers to protect the rights, interests, and property of non-resident Indians (NRIs).
He is a member of the UAE Medical Council, and an Abu Dhabi University board member.

Vayalil is married to Shabeena, the eldest daughter of M. A. Yusuff Ali, another billionaire. They are the parents of 4 children.
He filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India in April 2014 about the voting rights of non-resident Indians (NRIs). Voters must currently travel to their district to vote.
Philanthropy
He promised to devote half of his fortune to charity.
Following the monsoon floods in August 2018, Vayalil personally pledged to donate Dh 26 million (Rs 50 crore) to Kerala. He was recognized for his philanthropy at a United Nations function in New York.
