Marshall Bruce Mathers III was born on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. and Deborah Rae “Debbie.”
England, Scotland, Germany, Germany Swiss, Poland, and Luxembourg are among his forebears.
His mother was on the verge of passing out during her 73-hour labor. Eminem’s parents were in a band called Daddy Warbucks that played in Ramada Inns around the Dakota–Montana border before they broke up.
Eminem’s father, Bruce Jr., left the family and moved to California after having two more children, Michael and Sarah. Later in life, his mother, Debbie, had a son named Nathan “Nate” Kane Samara.
He and his mother moved about a lot as a kid, rarely staying in one place for more than a year or two at a time and mostly living with family members. They lived in St. Joseph, Savannah, and Kansas City, among other towns in Missouri.
He used to write letters to his father when he was a teenager. All of them were marked “return to sender,” according to Debbie.
A bully named D’Angelo Bailey assaulted Eminem when he was a boy, badly injuring his head, an occurrence that Eminem later described (with hilarious exaggeration) on the song “Brain Damage.” In 1982, Debbie brought a lawsuit against the public school over this.
Before discovering hip hop, he was interested in narrative and aspired to be a comic book artist.
He had a tumultuous relationship with his mother, whom a social worker characterized as having a “very skeptical, almost paranoid nature.”
Debbie ignored criticisms when her son became renowned, claiming that she had protected him and was responsible for his success. Debbie let Kimberly Anne “Kim” Scott, a runaway, stay at their house in 1987.
He began an on-again, off-again relationship with Scott a few years later.

Education
He dropped out of Lincoln High School at the age of 17 after three years in ninth grade owing to absenteeism and bad academics.
Despite his enthusiasm for English, Eminem avoided literature in favor of comic comics, and he loathed math and social studies.
Eminem began rapping at the age of 14 with his high school classmate Mike Ruby under the identities “Manix” and “M&M,” the latter of which evolved into “Eminem.”
He and his friend and fellow rapper Proof snuck into neighboring Osborn High School for lunchroom freestyle rap bouts.
They went to open mic contests at the Hip-Hop Shop on West 7 Mile on Saturdays, which is known as “ground zero” for the Detroit rap culture.
Career
In 1988, he founded his first group, New Jacks, and recorded a self-titled demo tape with DJ Butter Fingers under the stage name MC Double M. They eventually joined Bassmint Productions in 1989, and in 1992, they formed Soul Intent with rapper Proof and other childhood pals.

Eminem, a longtime Tupac enthusiast, contributed producing work to three tracks for the Tupac Resurrection soundtrack in 2003.
Encore, which was released in 2004, was another hit. The first song, “Just Lose It,” which contained obscenities directed against Michael Jackson, contributed to the album’s success.
Proof, Eminem’s childhood friend, was assassinated in April 2006. Eminem released Eminem Presents: The Re-Up, a compilation album including Proof and other Shady Records artists, eight months later.
During an interview with 50 Cent on New York radio station WQHT in September 2007, Eminem said he was “in limbo” and “debating” whether or not to make another album: “I’m always in the studio – I’m always working.”
“There is no Relapse 2,” Eminem tweeted on April 14, 2010.
He was named the first YouTube Music Awards Artist of the Year on November 3, and he was awarded the Global Icon Award at the 2013 MTV EMA Music Awards a week later.
He and Rosenberg started using the hashtag #SHADYXV on social media sites in the summer of 2014, and Eminem even donned a T-shirt with the hashtag onstage.

Private & early life
Family
Eminem has been examined as a rapper and as a public figure. Kimberly Anne “Kim” Scott was his second wife. He met Scott in high school as he was rapping LL Cool J’s “I’m Bad” on a table with his shirt off.
Scott and her twin sister Dawn had run away from home, and when Eminem was 15, they moved in with him and his mother, and he began an on-again, off-again relationship with Scott in 1989.
In 1999, Mathers and Scott married but divorced in 2001. On December 25, 1995, their daughter Hailie was born. Despite Eminem’s 2002 statement to Rolling Stone that “I’d sooner have a baby through my penis than get married again,” he and Scott remarried briefly in January 2006. In early April, he filed for divorce, agreeing to share custody of Hailie.
Eminem is also the father of Dawn’s daughter and Kim’s child from a previous relationship.
In early 2010, Eminem dismissed tabloid allegations that he and Kim had rekindled their romance; nonetheless, his representative stated that they now have a cordial connection in the same statement. Nathan, his younger half-brother, was in his legal custody.
Eminem apologized to and reaffirmed his love for his mother in his 2013 song “Headlights.”
Problems with your health
Eminem has spoken openly about his prescription drug addiction, which includes Vicodin, Ambien, and Valium. Eminem first straightened out in 2002, according to a friend and fellow D12 member Proof. Eminem had sleeplessness while working 16 hours a day on the creation of 8 Mile.
Overdosage in 2007
Eminem was hospitalized in December 2007 due to a methadone overdose. He had purchased it from a dealer who claimed it was “exactly like Vicodin, but kinder on the liver.”
Home invasion in 2020
Matthew Hughes, a 26-year-old homeless man, stormed into Eminem’s home on April 5, 2020, smashing a kitchen window with a paving stone. Hughes was standing behind Eminem as he awoke, and he swore he was there to murder him. Hughes was charged with first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of property and was held on a $50,000 cash bond.
