He became a junior partner with his father Alfred Kühne and has resided in Switzerland since 1975, in the city of Schindellegi, where the Kühne + Nagel headquarters are located.
In 1994, Kuehne + Nagel launches an initial public offering (IPO).
In 1996, he was named CEO of the firm.
In 2011, he was named honorary chairman of Kuehne & Nagel.
His Kuehne Holding AG bought a 20% stake in VTG, a rail logistics firm, in 2016.
