He studied aeronautical engineering in the United Kingdom after graduating in science from Meerut College in Uttar Pradesh and was eventually chosen for the Indian Army by the British Officers Services Selection Board.

Career
He joined American Universal Electric Company in 1960 and took over as managing director with Chaudhary Raghuvender Singh shortly after its merger with DLF Universal Limited in 1979.
In Gurgaon, Kushal Pal Singh built various earthquake-resistant shopping malls, office buildings, recreational facilities, and homes.
When he was chairman of DLF, the firm went public in 2007 and raised approximately US$2.24 billion, making it one of India’s biggest IPOs.
He was one of the initiators of GE’s entrance into India, according to Jack Welch, the former chairman and CEO of General Electric.
The company’s market capitalization has risen to $24.5 billion, making Singh and his family one of the world’s wealthiest families.

Singh was married to Indira Singh, the daughter of DLF Limited member Raghvendra Singh.

Singh’s name appeared in the Panama Papers, a package of 11.5 million confidential documents created by Panamanian corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca, in a list of high-profile names published in April 2016.
The Panama Papers name Singh’s son Rajiv Singh, his wife, his daughter Pia Singh, and her husband Timmy Sarna, who all set up offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands via Mossack Fonseca.
