Eldrick Tont Woods was born in Cypress, California, on December 30, 1975, to Earl and Kultida “Tida” Woods.

Woods was born and raised in Orange County, California.

He is their only kid, and from his father’s first marriage, he has two half-brothers and a half-sister.

Earl was a Vietnam War veteran and former US Army lieutenant.

He was born to African American parents and was reported to have European, Native American, and maybe Chinese ancestry. Kultida is from Thailand, where Earl met her in 1968 while on a tour of service there.

Her ancestors are Thai, Chinese, and Dutch.

Eldrick, Woods’ first name, was selected by his mother since it began with an “E” (for Earl) and finished with a “K” (for Kenneth) (for Kultida).

Tont, his middle name, is a Thai surname.

He was a young prodigy who was introduced to golf by his athletic father Earl Woods before the age of two.

Woods married Elin Nordegren, a Swedish former model, and daughter of former migration minister Barbro Holmberg and radio journalist Thomas Nordegren, in November 2003.

They met at The Open Championship in 2001, when Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik, who had hired her as an au pair, introduced them.

They married on October 5, 2004, at the Sandy Lane resort in Barbados, and they lived in Isleworth, a neighborhood in Windermere, Florida.

They bought a $39 million estate in Jupiter Island, Florida, in 2006 and started building a 10,000-square-foot home there; Woods moved there in 2010 after the couple divorced.
