Private & early life
Sanjay Dutt had a relationship with Tina Munim, his co-star in his debut film, in the early 1980s.
Dutt married actress Richa Sharma in 1987 after their romance terminated.
In 1996, she died of a brain tumor.
Trishala Dutt, the couple’s daughter, was born in 1988 and currently resides in the United States with her maternal grandparents.
In 1993, Bombay (now Mumbai) was the target of a series of bombs. Several persons connected to Bollywood were suspected of participation, including Dutt.
He was apprehended in April 1993 under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA).
On 5 May 1993, the Supreme Court of India granted Dutt release; however, his bail was revoked on 4 July 1994, and he was re-arrested.

In August 2020, Dutt was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. He received his treatment in Mumbai and is now cancer-free.
