Education
Dixit began dancing at the age of three and went on to study Kathak for eight years, eventually becoming a professionally trained Kathak dancer.
Dixit attended Andheri’s Divine Child High School for her schooling.
She participated in extracurricular activities such as dramatics in addition to her education.
Dixit enrolled at Sathaye College in Vile Parle (Mumbai) to study microbiology as one of her BSc topics, with the goal of becoming a microbiologist.
However, six months after starting her education, Dixit chose to drop out and pursue a full-time job in the film industry.
Career
In 1984, Madhuri Dixit made her film debut in Rajshri Productions’ drama Abodh, in which she starred with Bengali actor Tapas Paul.
Dixit rose to prominence in 1988, when she starred with Anil Kapoor in N. Chandra’s action-romance Tezaab as Mohini.
Dixit starred in nine films in 1990.
Dixit had even more success after reuniting with Indra Kumar for the love film Raja, in which she starred alongside Sanjay Kapoor.
Dixit appeared alongside Anil Kapoor in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Pukar in 2000.

Private & early life
In a traditional ceremony performed at the house of Dixit’s elder brother in Southern California, Dixit married Shriram Madhav Nene, a cardiovascular surgeon from Los Angeles, California, on October 17, 1999.
Several prominent Indian personalities, including then-CM of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh, Raj Thackeray, Saira Banu, Feroze Khan, Dilip Kumar, Yash Chopra, Sridevi, Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar, and others, attended Dixit and Nene’s wedding reception in Mumbai.
Dixit lived in Denver, Colorado, for nearly a decade after her marriage.
Dixit gave birth to her son Arin on March 17, 2003.
She gave birth to another son, Ryan, two years later, on March 8, 2005.
In October 2011, Dixit and her family returned to Mumbai.

Philanthropy
Dixit performed for the NDTV Toyota Greenathon in 2009, which was India’s first-ever countrywide campaign for environmental preservation and awareness.
