He is a former Indian international cricketer who led the Indian national team as captain. He is commonly considered one of the best batsmen in cricket history in India and other countries.

Sachin Tendulkar was born to a Maharashtrian family on April 24, 1973, at Nirmal Nursing Home in Dadar, Bombay.

Ramesh Tendulkar, his father, was a well-known Marathi author and poet, and Rajni, his mother, worked in the insurance industry.

Tendulkar grew up in the Bandra-based Sahitya Saha the Cooperative Housing Society (East). Tendulkar was known as a bully as a teenager, often picking fights with new students at his school. He was also a tennis fanatic, idolizing John McEnroe.

Tendulkar won the Arjuna Award for outstanding sporting achievement in 1994, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1997, India’s top sporting honor, and the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan awards in 1999 and 2008, India’s 4th and 2nd highest civilian awards, respectively.

Tendulkar married Anjali Mehta (b. 1967), a Gujarati pediatrician whom he had met in 1990, on May 24, 1995.

They have a son Arjun and a daughter Sara, who is well-known for his cricket skills as a teenager.

In 1984, at Shivaji Park in Dadar, Sachin was introduced to Ramakant Achrekar, a well-known cricket coach and a renowned club cricketer.

Sachin performed even better this time, almost unnoticed, and was admitted into Achrekar’s academy.

In the 2003 edition of the competition, held in South Africa, he was dubbed “Player of the Tournament.”
