Career
Domestic career
In the 2015–16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Saini made his Twenty20 debut on January 2, 2016.
For ten lakhs in February 2017, he was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils for the 2017 Indian Premier League. In the 2018 IPL auction, he was purchased for 3 crores by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
With 34 dismissals in eight matches in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, he was Delhi’s highest wicket-taker. In the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he was the best wicket-taker for Delhi, with sixteen dismissals in eight matches.
He was picked to India C’s squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018. He was selected as one of eight players to watch ahead of the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy the following month.
In the Indian Premier League auction in February 2022, he was purchased by the Rajasthan Royals.
International career
He was named to India’s Test team in June 2018 as a replacement for Mohammed Shami for their one-off match against Afghanistan, however, he did not participate. He was picked as a standby bowler for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April 2019.
He was named in India’s One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) squads for the West Indies series in July 2019. On August 3, 2019, he made his T20I debut against the West Indies.
From his four overs, he claimed three wickets, including Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer in two consecutive deliveries. In the last over of the innings, he bowled a wicket-maiden to dismiss Kieron Pollard. He was given the honor of being named the match’s man of the match.
He was included to India’s One Day International (ODI) team for their home series against the West Indies in December 2019.
On December 22, 2019, he made his ODI debut for India, also against the West Indies.
He was picked in India’s Test team for the series against New Zealand in February 2020.
He was re-named to India’s Test team in October 2020, this time for a series against Australia. However, due to a back spasm, Saini was unable to complete the tour.
