Carter is the daughter of Juanita and Colby Carter and was born on July 24, 1951, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Her father is of English and Scots-Irish origin, while her mother is of Mexican, Spanish, and French lineage, as is her mother’s family.

Vincent is her brother, while Pamela is her sister.

Carter made her public television debut at the age of five on Lew King’s Talent Show.

Private & early life

Before she became Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter had personal involvement with French musician Michel Polnareff in 1973.

Carter has had two marriages. Her first marriage, from 1977 until 1982, was to Ron Samuels, her former talent agent, at which time she openly acknowledged that she was quite unhappy.

She married Robert A. Altman, a Washington, D.C. attorney who was Clark Clifford’s legal partner and subsequently co-founder and CEO of ZeniMax Media, on January 29, 1984.

She left Hollywood in 1985 to spend some time with her husband in Washington, D.C. Carter has two children with her spouse, James Altman, and Jessica Carter Altman.

The couple resided in a house they constructed near Potomac, Maryland, just before their son was born in 1987. The 20,000-square-foot Georgian-style estate was featured in the first edition of Closer magazine and on HGTV in November 2013.
