Lenskart is a New Delhi-based Omni channel Indian origin Global optical prescription eyeglasses retail network. Lenskart had 500+ outlets in over 40 cities in India as of September 2020. Its New Delhi manufacturing unit produces 3 lakh glasses each month.

After a $275 million investment from Softbank, the firm was valued at $1 billion by December 2019. Lenskart was started in 2010 by Peyush Bansal, a former Microsoft employee, together with Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi. Lenskart expects to produce over 1,000 crores in revenue by 2020.

TPG Growth, International Finance Corporation, and Adveq Management are among Lenskart’s investors.

Lenskart is also backed by Ratan Tata and Kris Gopalakrishnan. Wipro’s Chairman Azim Premji invested 4 crores in the firm in March 2018, raising the company’s worth to 3,000 crores.

In 2018, the corporation turned a profit. In 2017, Lenskart introduced the eyewear brand, John Jacobs. For funding, the company is in negotiations with Japanese conglomerate SoftBank and private equity firm Kedaara Capital.

Katrina Kaif became Lenskart’s first brand ambassador in October 2017. Bhuvan Bam was recruited as the company’s first male brand ambassador in March 2019.

Lenskart announced the acquisition of a controlling share in the Japanese eyewear business Owndays in June 2022. Owndays was valued at roughly $400 million in the transaction.
