After a $275 million investment from Softbank, the firm was valued at $1 billion by December 2019. Lenskart was started in 2010 by Peyush Bansal, a former Microsoft employee, together with Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi. Lenskart expects to produce over 1,000 crores in revenue by 2020.
TPG Growth, International Finance Corporation, and Adveq Management are among Lenskart’s investors.
Lenskart is also backed by Ratan Tata and Kris Gopalakrishnan. Wipro’s Chairman Azim Premji invested 4 crores in the firm in March 2018, raising the company’s worth to 3,000 crores.
