Education
Pauline Hughes Middle School was where Clarkson received her education.
Cynthia Glenn, the school’s choir director, noticed her singing in the corridor in seventh grade and invited her to audition for the school chorus.
Clarkson graduated from Burleson High School in 2000, where she appeared in Annie Get Your Gun, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Brigadoon, among other musicals
Clarkson kept singing and eventually began classical training in the hopes of winning a college scholarship via music.

Clarkson took multiple jobs after college to fund a demo, record material, and attempt to sell it to record labels, but she received no response.
She moved to Los Angeles in 2001 in order to pursue a career in music. She acted as an extra in a few television shows, including Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and Dharma & Greg, and recorded five demo songs with guitarist Gerry Goffin in the hopes of landing a record deal.
Clarkson was pushed by her friends to audition for the first season of the reality television series American Idol: The Search for a Superstar when she returned to Burleson in May 2002.
Between 2003 and 2004, she played Brenda Lee in two episodes of the television drama American Dreams.

Private & early life
Clarkson began dating talent manager Brandon Blackstock in 2012, the son of her previous manager Narvel Blackstock and Reba McEntire’s stepson.
On October 20, 2013, she married Blackstock at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee. Brandon was her manager during their marriage.
River Rose, their daughter, was born in June 2014, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, their boy, was born in April 2016.
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020, claiming irreconcilable differences as the reason.
