Frankel is the only child of horse trainer Robert J. Frankel and interior designer Bernadette Birk.
Her father was a devout Jew, while her mother was a devout Roman Catholic of Welsh ancestry.
Frankel’s father abandoned her mother when she was four years old.
Her mother married horse trainer John Parisella, an Italian Catholic when she was five years old. Frankel recalls a tumultuous upbringing.

Education
Frankel was up in a Catholic household and graduated from Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1988, where she resided on campus.
She went to the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City, Boston University for two years, and New York University for her bachelor’s degree in psychology and communications.
Career
Frankel went to Los Angeles in 1992 with the intention of becoming an actor. She worked as a nanny for Paris Hilton as a personal assistant for Jerry and Linda Bruckheimer while pursuing tiny acting opportunities.
In 2003, Frankel launched “BethennyBakes,” a baking company specializing in “healthy” cookies and meal delivery in New York City, which was featured on Martha Stewart’s reality show The Apprentice: Martha Stewart in 2005.
On The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, Frankel was one of two finalists. Frankel remained a spokeswoman for Pepperidge Farms’ low-calorie line when the firm, BethennyBakes, went out of business in 2006.
Frankel began starring in the Bravo reality show The Real Housewives of New York City in 2008, which aired in March.
In June 2010, Frankel participated in the Bravo reality series Bethenny Getting Married?
