Kálmán Seinfeld (1918–1985), his father, was of Hungarian-Jewish heritage and amassed a collection of jokes while serving in World War II.

Betty and her parents, Selim and Salha Hosni, were Syrian Jews who came from Aleppo.

After brief appearances in college shows, Seinfeld acquired an interest in stand-up comedy.

Seinfeld is a Mets fan and refers to Steve Somers’ show on WFAN-AM, a sports talk radio station, as “Jerry from Queens” on occasion.
