He is also a color commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

He broadcasts The Joe Rogan Experience, a podcast he started in 2009 in which he talks with a range of guests about current events, humor, politics, philosophy, science, and hobbies.

Rogan was born in Newark, New Jersey, and began his comedic career in the Boston region in August 1988.

Joseph James Rogan was born in Newark, New Jersey, on August 11, 1967.

Three-quarters of his ancestors are Italian, and one-quarter are Irish.

Joseph, his father, is a retired Newark police officer.

Rogan’s parents split when he was five years old, and he hasn’t spoken to his father since he was seven years old. Rogan recalled the following: “Only these quick, violent flashes of domestic violence come to mind when I think of my father… But I’m not going to whine about my childhood. I’ve never had anything horrible happen to me… I don’t despise him.”

He resided in San Francisco, California, from the age of seven to eleven, before moving to Gainesville, Florida, with his family.

In his early adolescence, Rogan played Little League Baseball and became interested in martial arts.

He remembered being “As a youngster, he was “terrified of being a loser,” and martial arts “gave me not just confidence, but also a different vision of myself and what I might do.” I knew I could accomplish something I was frightened of, something that was really tough, and thrive at it. It was a significant event in my life.”

Martial arts have been around for a long time “The very first thing that gave me hope that I wouldn’t be a loser. As a result, I was compelled to pursue it.” Rogan began karate at the age of 14 and Taekwondo a year later.

They eventually relocated to Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston, where Rogan graduated from Newton South High School in 1985.

He enrolled in the University of Massachusetts Boston but quit school early due to his dissatisfaction with the program. He resided in Boston till he was 24 years old.

Career

Rogan has no intention of becoming a professional stand-up comic and had pondered pursuing a career in kickboxing at first.

Rogan relocated to New York City in 1990. He was “scratching and grinding” for money as a full-time comic, and for the first six months, he resided with his grandfather in Newark.

Rogan moved to Los Angeles in 1994, and his first national television appearance was on MTV’s Half-Hour Comedy Hour.

Rogan played Joe Garrelli, an electrician and handyman at the show’s fictional news radio station, in the NBC sitcom NewsRadio from 1995 to 1999.

Rogan began his career as backstage and post-fight interviewer for the mixed martial arts company Ultimate Fighting Championship. On February 7, 1997, he made his debut at UFC 12: Judgement Day in Dothan, Alabama.

In 1999, Rogan signed a three-album contract with Warner Bros. Records and began making preparations to feature in The Joe Rogan Show, a prime-time broadcast sitcom on Fox.

Rogan’s television program was put on hold in 2001 after he accepted an offer from NBC to host the American version of Fear Factor.

Private & early life

In 2009, Rogan married Jessica Ditzel, an ex-cocktail waitress. The couple has two children, the first of whom was born in 2008 and the second of whom was born in 2010.

Ditzel’s daughter from a previous relationship is Rogan’s stepdaughter. In 2008, the family relocated to Boulder, Colorado, for four months before returning to Southern California when his wife got expecting. Rogan has been residing in Bell Canyon, California, since early 2003.

In mid-2018, they paid over $5 million for a new property in the region. The family relocated to a $14 million property on Lake Austin, Texas, in 2020.
