Steinfeld attended Ascension Lutheran School, Conejo Elementary School, and Colina Middle School while growing up in Agoura Hills and Thousand Oaks, California.
She was homeschooled from 2008 until June 2015, when she graduated from high school.
Career
Steinfeld began acting at the age of ten, appearing in various short films, including the award-winning She’s a Fox, in which she played Talia Alden.
At the age of 14, Steinfeld was cast as Juliet in a 2013 rendition of Romeo and Juliet.
In the romance-drama Begin Again, Steinfeld plays Violet, one of the main characters. On June 27, 2014, the film had a limited release in the United States, making $134,064 in its first weekend; on July 11, it had a wide release.
