Wahlberg rose to prominence as the younger brother of Donnie Wahlberg, the lead singer of the popular boy band New Kids on the Block.
In 1990, Wahlberg formed Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch with dancers/rappers Scott Ross, Hector Barros, Anthony Thomas, and Terry Yancey (DJ-T), and their debut album Music for the People earned them success with “Good Vibrations.”

In 1993, Wahlberg made his acting debut in the television film The Substitute. After this appearance, he dropped the “Marky Mark” name.
He appeared as a stand-in for the band’s bassist in the Black Label Society music video for “Counterfeit God” in 2000.

On August 1, 2009, Wahlberg married model Rhea Durham in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, which is close to their home.
Ella Rae and Grace Margaret are their daughters, and Michael and Brendan Joseph are their sons.
On September 11, 2001, Wahlberg was scheduled to fly on American Airlines Flight 11, but his plans changed the day before and he canceled his reservation.
After family members of those murdered on the aircraft voiced their indignation, he made an apology.
Despite the Church’s stance, Wahlberg is a devout Catholic who openly supports same-sex marriage.
