Ezra Matthew Miller was born on September 30, 1992, in Wyckoff, New Jersey.

Saiya and Caitlin are their two elder sisters.

Marta Miller, their mother, is a contemporary dancer. Robert S. Miller, their father, was a senior vice president and managing director at Hyperion Books before becoming a publisher at Workman Publishing.

Miller’s father is Jewish, while their mother is Dutch and German.

Miller considers himself Jewish and “spiritual.” They began training as an opera singer at the age of six in order to overcome a speech impairment.

They’ve played with the Metropolitan Opera and in the American premiere of Philip Glass’ opera White Raven.
