From 2002 through 2010, he competed in WWE events, followed by a final stint from 2018 to 2019.

Bautista was born on January 18, 1969, in Washington, D.C., to Donna Raye and David Michael Bautista, a hairdresser.

His mother is of Greek ancestry, while his father is a Filipino immigrant’s son.

His paternal grandpa was a member of the Philippine military who also worked as a cab driver and barber, among other things, to help support the family.

His mother identifies as a lesbian. Bautista has stated that he grew up in poverty and had a difficult childhood, claiming that three murders occurred on his front yard before he was nine years old.

He started stealing automobiles when he was 13 years old. By the age of 17, he had broken his relationship with his parents and was living on his own.

He worked as a nightclub bouncer until he was detained following a brawl in which two guests were hurt, one of whom was knocked out.

He was sentenced to one year of probation after a trial. Before pursing a career in bodybuilding, he worked as a lifeguard, which he credits with saving his life.

Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker informed Bautista that he would never make it in the wrestling profession when he tried out at the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) Power Plant. He then went to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), who encouraged him to train and compete in Afa Anoa’i’s World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) promotion at the Wild Samoan Training Center wrestling school. On October 30, 1999, he made his debut as Khan.

Bautista was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), a WWF developmental territory, after signing with the WWF in 2000.

On May 9, 2002, he made his televised WWE debut as Deacon Batista, a heel enforcer for Reverend D-Von, on an episode of SmackDown!

Batista formed the Evolution heel stable with Triple H, Ric Flair, and Randy Orton in January 2003.

In 1990, Bautista married his first wife, Glenda. Before their divorce in 1998, they had two kids together, Keilani and Athena.

On October 13, 1998, Bautista married his second wife, Angie. They divorced in 2006 after having a kid together, Oliver.

Bautista had two grandkids via Keilani before he turned 40.

He became an obsessive collector of old metal lunchboxes during his marriage to Angie.
