Education
He has completed his high school education at Sheth Chimanlal Nagindas Vidyalaya school in Ahmedabad.
He got admitted to Gujarat University for a bachelor’s degree in commerce but dropped out after two years of graduation.
Career
In 1978, as a teenager, Adani walked to Mumbai to work as a diamond sorter for Mahendra Brothers and he served there for 2-3 years before establishing his own diamond brokerage company in Zaveri Bazar, Mumbai.
In 1981, his older brother Mansukhbhai Adani acquired a plastics company in Ahmedabad and invited Gautam for managing it well.
Through importing polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the proposal proved to be Adani’s entrance to international trading.
In 1985, he began importing major polymers for small enterprises.

Private & early life
Gautam Adani is married to Priti Adani.
In 1998, he was kidnapped and held like a prisoner for ransom, however was left without gathering the money.
Surprisingly, he was at the Taj Hotel during the 2008 Mumbai attacks, but he came out safely according to God’s will, as he hid in the kitchen and toilet.
Controversy
During the Lok Sabha elections of India in 2014, Adani was prosecuted for various disputes, like supporting Narendra Modi for his campaign in the BJP party.
It proved wrong that Gautam Adani has no rapport with Modi, even though contending on national media, as Modi was seen trekking on Adani group chartered airplanes to rallies.
To disprove the claim, Gautam explained in a conference with CNBC that the BJP had paid the price to the Adani group to use their flying services.
It was claimed that the NDA government was in favor of Gautam Adani as it has waived a fine of Rs 200 crore on Adani Port and SEZ.
Gautam Adani made it clear in an interview that the penalty has not been removed from his companies and the government is not taking any endorsement of Adani in any way.
He explained that the Adani Group is only the mine’s contractual worker the mine is possessed by the Rajasthan Government.
