Franklin Roberto Lashley was born on July 16, 1976, in Junction City, Kansas, the son of a United States Army drill sergeant.
Lashley was born in Panama and is of Panamanian heritage.
He grew up in a single-parent family with a mother who knew little English and struggled to find work.
He has three elder sisters, one of whom is now serving in the United States Air Force.

Education
Lashley attended Fort Riley Middle School in Kansas while his father was stationed there, where he was exposed to amateur wrestling as an off-season alternative to football in seventh grade.
He continued to wrestle after graduating from Junction City High School.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in human-service agency management and recreation administration from Missouri Valley College, where he was the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Wrestling Champion.
After graduation, he joined his father in the United States Army and competed in amateur wrestling in the army’s World Class Athlete Program.
During his three years in the Army, he earned gold and silver medals in senior freestyle wrestling at the International Military Sports Council.
Career
Lashley wrestled in dark bouts for both the Raw and SmackDown! brands at four live events for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in mid-2005.
Lashley became the first SmackDown! wrestler to qualify for the Royal Rumble that year on January 6, 2006.
Donald Trump chose Lashley to represent him in a “Battle of the Billionaires” match against Vince McMahon’s representative, Umaga, in early 2007, which also included Vince’s long-time rival Stone Cold Steve Austin as the guest referee.
Lashley began wrestling on the independent circuit in May 2008, after leaving WWE.

Kyra, Lashley’s first child, was born in 2005. He then married Kristal Marshall, a former WWE wrestler, and they had a boy called Myles in 2008 and a daughter named Naomi in 2011.
