Arijit Singh was born on April 25, 1987, in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal to Sikh father Kakkar Singh and Bengali mother Aditi Singh.
He began music lessons at an early age at home.
Rajendra Prasad Hazari taught him Indian classical music, while Dhirendra Prasad Hazari schooled him on tabla.

Arijit Singh began studying under the Hazari brothers at the age of three.
At the age of nine, he received a government scholarship for voice instruction in Indian classical music.
He attended Raja Bijay Singh High School and then Sripat Singh College, which is affiliated with the University of Kalyani.
He “was a competent student, but cared more about music,” according to him, and his parents chose to train him professionally.

Arijit Singh’s musical career began when his guru, Rajendra Prasad Hazari, insisted on him leaving his village at the age of 18 to compete in a reality program.

During the performance, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali spotted his ability and had him sing “Yun Shabnami.”
In 2006, he opted to go to Mumbai to freelance, living in a rented apartment in the Lokhandwala neighborhood.

Private & early life
Arijit Singh married Koyel Roy, a childhood friend, and neighbor, in 2014.
They have two kids.
