Private & early life
From 1999 until 2004, Hardy was married to producer Sarah Ward, whom he divorced in 2004.
On the set of The Virgin Queen in 2005, he met assistant director Rachael Speed, with whom he had a son in April 2008 before divorcing in 2009.
After meeting on the set of Wuthering Heights that year, Hardy began dating actress Charlotte Riley. In July of 2014, they married. Their first kid was born in October 2015, and the second was born in December 2018.
Max and Woodstock, their two rescue dogs, were featured in a PETA advertisement to promote pet adoption. Woodstock passed away on June 5, 2017, after a severe bout of polymyositis.
