Mithun Chakraborty was born to Basanta Kumar Chakraborty and Shanti Rani Chakraborty on June 16, 1950, in Calcutta (now Kolkata), West Bengal, India.
Before entering the film industry, he was a Naxalite, but tragedy hit his family when his only sibling was electrocuted and murdered in an accident.
He returned to his family and quit the Naxalite fold, despite the fact that this put his life in jeopardy.

Education
Mithun Chakraborty received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Scottish Church College in Kolkata after studying at Oriental Seminary.
He then went on to the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, where he graduated.
Career
Mrinal Sen’s National Award-winning film Mrigayaa (1976) marked Chakraborty’s Bollywood debut.
The Dream Factory films, directed by Mithun, continued to captivate audiences.
Chakraborty’s other films include Veer (2010) with Salman Khan Golmaal 3 (2010) with Ajay Devgn, and Housefull 2, OMG – Oh My God! and Khiladi 786 (2012) with Akshay Kumar.
Chakraborty’s Bengali film, Jole Jongole, was released in February 2017.
In Kannada, he made his debut in the film The Villain, starring Shiva Rajkumar and Sudeep.
Political life
Chakraborty became a Member of Parliament after being nominated for the Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament elections on February 7, 2014.
