Mark Alan Ruffalo was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on November 22, 1967.

His mother, Marie Rose, is a hairstylist, and his father, Frank Lawrence Ruffalo Jr., is a construction painter.

Tania and Nicole are his sisters, while Scott is his brother (he died in 2008).

His father is of Girifalco Italian lineage, while his mother is half French Canadian and half Italian.

In the year 2000, Ruffalo married Sunrise Coigney. Keen is their son, and Bella Noche and Odette are their daughters.

Ruffalo was diagnosed with a vestibular schwannoma, often known as an auditory neuroma, after completing work on the film The Last Castle. Although the tumour was discovered to be benign, the procedure to remove it left him with partial facial paralysis and impaired his hearing.

Scott Ruffalo, Ruffalo’s younger brother, was found with an execution-style gunshot wound to the head outside his house on North Palm Drive in Beverly Hills on December 1, 2008. Scott was rushed to the hospital, but he died a week later. The case is still open.
