Paul’s YouTube channel had amassed a moderate audience on the app Vine by the time he started college. He attended Ohio University and majored in Industrial Engineering before leaving out in 2014 to pursue a career as a full-time social media entertainer in Los Angeles, where he shared an apartment with other Vine stars.

On December 6, 2020, it was reported that Paul would fight Floyd Mayweather Jr., a former five-division world champion, in an exhibition fight on February 20, 2021.

Paul’s ancestors are English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Jewish, and German.
Paul and his housemates Mark Dohner and Evan Eckenrode shared an apartment complex on Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood, California, with other social media superstars Amanda Cerny, Juanpa Zurita, and Andrew Bachelor in October 2015.
Because of their close closeness, they were able to collaborate on their individual videos more easily. Paul and Eckenrode moved to an estate in Encino, California, in October 2017.
