At the age of seven, Bynes made her professional acting debut in a television commercial for Buncha Crunch sweets.
She also starred on stage in adaptations of Annie, The Secret Garden, The Music Man, and The Sound of Music throughout her childhood.
She later attended a comedy camp at the Los Angeles Laugh Factory, where she was discovered by a Nickelodeon executive and cast in various parts on the sketch comedy series All That from 1996 to 2000.

Private & early life
In 2007, Bynes identified herself as Jewish, adding: “In terms of religion, I was brought up in both. Both were new to me. My parents told me that I could choose when I wanted to grow up. In any case, I’m a spiritual person. I haven’t made up my mind about religion yet. I’m not sure what I believe just yet.” After portraying a character in an episode of MacFarlane’s comedy Family Guy, Bynes dated Seth MacFarlane for a short time in 2008.
Bynes has been interested in art and fashion design since he was a youngster. Bynes enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Irvine in December 2013 for the 2014 school year.
She obtained her Associate of Arts degree in Merchandise Product Development in 2018 and declared her plans to begin a bachelor’s degree program the following year. Bynes graduated from FIDM in 2019.
