Ariana Grande-Butera was born in Boca Raton, Florida, on June 26, 1993.

Her parents divorced when she was eight or nine years old, and her family relocated from New York to Florida before she was born.

In 1998, while her parents were season ticket holders for the Florida Panthers, she was inadvertently struck on both wrists by wayward hockey pucks on two separate occasions, getting minor bruises both times.

The second event occurred on October 9, 1998, at the Panthers’ first regular-season game at National Car Rental Center, when she was also the first kid to ever ride a Zamboni in the brand-new arena during the first intermission, thanks to her parents’ winning bid of $200 at an auction.

The South Florida SunSentinel published a photo of her aboard the Zamboni the next day.

On January 16, 2002, at the age of eight, she performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” before a Panthers home game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Grande began her career as a child actor with the Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theater, where she landed her first part as Annie, the titular character in the musical Annie.

Grande has previously stated that she suffers from hypoglycemia, which she attributes to her bad eating habits.

After the Manchester Arena bombing, she developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety, and she nearly backed out of her performance in the 2018 program A Very Wicked Halloween owing to her fear.

Grande has also revealed that she has been in therapy for more than a decade, having first sought help immediately after her parents’ divorce.

Grande was raised Roman Catholic but left the church during the papacy of Benedict XVI, citing her half-brother Frankie’s homosexuality as a reason for her departure.

Since she was 12, she and Frankie have been studying Kabbalah, a type of Jewish mysticism. “The premise lies in the belief that if you’re kind to others, wonderful things will come to you,” she remarked.

Several of her songs favor LGBT rights, including “Break Your Heart Right Back.” She’s also been dubbed “a proponent of a sex-positive mindset.”

In 2016, the two began dating after releasing “The Way” with Mac Miller in 2012. They collaborated on the tune “My Favorite Part,” which appeared on Miller’s album The Divine Feminine in September 2016.

By May of 2018, their relationship had come to an end. Miller died of an accidental drug overdose in September of that year, and Grande voiced her sadness on social media, calling him her “dearest friend.”
