Shahid Kapoor was born on February 25, 1981, in New Delhi, India, to actor Pankaj Kapur and actress-dancer Neelima Azeem.
When he was three years old, his parents split; his father moved to Mumbai (and married actress Supriya Pathak), while Kapoor stayed in Delhi with his mother and maternal grandparents.
His father, a struggling actor in Mumbai at the time, would only pay Kapoor a visit on his birthday once a year.
Kapoor’s mother, a dancer, came to Mumbai to pursue a career as an actress when he was ten years old.
Azeem then married actor Rajesh Khattar in Mumbai.

Education
Shahid Kapoor attended Delhi’s Gyan Bharati School and Mumbai’s Rajhans Vidyalaya.
He then spent three years at Mumbai’s Mithibai College.
Kapoor had a passion for dancing since he was a child, and at the age of 15, he enrolled in Shiamak Davar’s dance school.
Career
Producer Ramesh Taurani was eager to cast Kapoor in a film after seeing him in the Aryans’ song video “Aankhon Mein.”
Taurani, on the other hand, believed Kapoor, who was 20 years old at the time, was too young and underweight to be an actor and advised him to wait a few years.
Kapoor’s first film of the year, the ensemble comedy Fool & Final, was a flop.
However, his second movie that year, the romantic comedy Jab We Met, directed by Imtiaz Ali, was one of the year’s top-grossing pictures.

Shahid began dating Kareena Kapoor during the production of Fida in 2004, and the two officially announced their relationship.
When Mid Day released a set of photographs of them kissing in public, it became a well-publicized controversy.

In 2012, Shahid Kapoor assisted Shiamak Davar in reviving the Victory Arts Foundation, an NGO that aids impoverished children via dance therapy programs.
