Ronda Jean Rousey was born on February 1, 1987, in Riverside, California, to AnnMaria De Mars and Ronald John Rousey, the youngest of three daughters.
Her mother was a world-class judoka and the first American to win a World Judo Championship (in 1984).
Rousey is of English, Polish, Trinidadian and Venezuelan origin, according to her maternal grandfather.
Alfred E. Waddell, her Trinidadian maternal great-grandfather, was a doctor who went to Canada and became one of the first black physicians in North America.
Her stepfather works in the aerospace industry.
When Rousey was eight years old, her biological father committed suicide after hurting his back while sledding with his kids and knowing that he would be a paraplegic.

Rousey is a big admirer of professional wrestling. With the consent of members Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir have named themselves “The Four Horsewomen,” a parody of The Four Horsemen professional wrestling stable.

Rousey now resides in Venice, California.
After Beijing 2008, Rousey became a vegan, but in 2012 she characterized her diet as “sort of a blend between a Paleo and a Warrior diet,” in which she tried to consume everything.
She has previously spoken about her struggles with body image.
Rousey is a huge Dragon Ball Z and Pokémon lover. Mew is her favorite Pokémon. She aspired to be Android 18 as a youngster and had a crush on Vegeta.
