Radhe and his schoolmate Radhe Shyam Goenka founded the Emami cosmetics company in 1974.

Controversy
On the morning of December 9, 2011, an AMRI Hospital in south Kolkata’s Dhakuria district caught fire, killing 92 people, the majority of whom were critically ill patients who suffocated in their sleep.
7 members of the hospital’s board of directors were arrested on the same day, and the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Alipore remanded them in police custody until December 20.
Agarwal and Goenka, the founders of Emami and the hospital chain’s directors, were among the seven people arrested. They were accused of causing the deaths through negligence.
At the time, the fire was India’s most serious hospital disaster.
