He adopted the pseudonym “Pawan” during a martial arts performance in which he hoped to demonstrate his skills. He is a black belt in karate.
Kalyan entered politics in 2008 as the head of the Praja Rajyam Party’s youth wing, which was created by his brother Chiranjeevi.
After Chiranjeevi combined the party with the Congress party, he quit. Kalyan formed the Jana Sena Party in March 2014.
