Adele Biography

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born in the Tottenham region of London on May 5, 1988, to a Welsh father, Marc Evans, and an English mother, Penny Adkins.

Adele was raised by her mother when Evans departed when she was two years old. She began singing at the age of four and claims to be enamored with voices. Adele, then nine years old, and her mother, who had found employment as a furniture maker and an adult-learning events organizer, moved to Brighton, England, in 1997.

She and her mother returned to London in 1999, first to Brixton, then to the nearby borough of West Norwood in south London, the subject of her debut song “Hometown Glory.”

She spent a lot of her childhood at Brockwell Park, where she would play the guitar and sing to her friends, as she recalls in her song “Million Years Ago” from 2015.

“It has fairly major moments of my life that I’ve spent there,” she said, “and I absolutely fell into tears driving by it in 2015.”
