Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado is an American professional wrestler currently contracted to WWE’s SmackDown brand as Sasha Banks, where she is one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions with Naomi in their first reign as a team and Banks’ record-tying third reign overall.
Banks went on to win the Raw Women’s Championship five times during the course of her career.
She and Charlotte Flair made history in 2016 when they became the first women to headline a WWE pay-per-view event, engage in a Hell in a Cell match, and win the PWI Feud of the Year award.

Education
To find schools and hospitals for her autistic brother, Joshua, her family relocated to numerous locations, including Minnesota.
She grew up watching All Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling and attended school online (AJW).
Career
In 2008, Kaestner-Varnado started training at Chaotic Wrestling (CW) in Woburn, Massachusetts.
KV and Roxx won their debut bout on January 7, 2011, when they defeated Alexxis and Mistress Belmont in a tag team match.
On January 6, 2012, KV successfully defended her title against Barbie.
On the January 23, 2013 broadcast of NXT, Banks defeated Alicia Fox in a televised match.
Banks lost to Bayley in a match to decide the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship on the August 14, 2014 episode of NXT.
After Stephanie McMahon called for a “revolution” in the WWE Divas division, Banks made her formal debut on Raw on July 13, 2015, alongside Charlotte and Becky Lynch.
Banks made her maiden appearance for the Raw brand on July 25, 2016, after being recruited to the brand as part of the 2016 WWE draught. She defeated Charlotte to win the WWE Women’s Championship for the first time.
Banks, Bayley, and Mickie James began a feud with the debuting faction Absolution (Paige, Mandy Rose, and Sonya Deville) at the end of 2017, who assaulted them many times.

Private & early life
Kaestner-Varnado is a first cousin of rapper Snoop Dogg, who helped her build her in-ring character through her father. She is also a first cousin of singers Brandy Norwood and Ray J, as well as music producer Daz Dillinger. She enjoys K-pop music and the anime Sailor Moon from Japan.
Eddie Guerrero is Kaestner-favorite Varnado’s wrestler and motivation. She was in Minneapolis on November 14, 2005, for Guerrero’s memorial edition of Raw, and she said that she had no idea Guerrero had died until she got to the arena.
Sarath Ton, a Cambodian-American retired professional wrestler, married Kaestner-Varnado on August 4, 2016. They met on the independent circuit, where they both wrestled. Ton, better known by his ring moniker Mikaze, currently works for WWE as a costume designer.
