From 1986 until early 1994, Bezos worked on Wall Street in a number of sectors. On a cross-country car journey from New York City to Seattle, Bezos established Amazon in late 1994.

The firm began as an online bookshop and has subsequently evolved to include video and audio streaming, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, among other e-commerce products and services.

Through its Amazon Web Services division, it is presently the world’s largest online sales firm, the largest Internet corporation by revenue.

Amazon is the largest supplier of virtual assistants and cloud infrastructure services.

In the year 2000, Bezos launched Blue Origin, an aircraft manufacturer and provider of suborbital spaceflight services.

In 2015, Blue Origin’s New Shepard vehicle successfully launched into space and returned to Earth. The business has intentions to launch commercial suborbital human spaceflight in the near future.

Bezos decided to open an online bookshop in late 1993. On July 5, 1994, he quit his job at D. E. Shaw and launched Amazon in his garage, after creating the company’s business plan while driving from New York City to Seattle.

He took a $300,000 loan from his parents and put it into Amazon. He forewarned several early investors that Amazon had a 70% probability of failing or going bankrupt.

Bezos moved into the online selling of music and video in 1998, and by the end of the year, the company’s offerings had expanded to encompass a number of other consumer items.

Bezos borrowed $2 billion from banks in 2000, when his cash levels were barely $350 million.

Bezos raised $671 million via the sale of little more than one million shares of his Amazon stock in May 2016, the greatest sum he had ever generated from selling some of his Amazon stock.

Bezos revealed in 2015 that a new orbital launch vehicle was in the works, with a first flight planned for the late 2010s.
