Eva Green Biography

On July 6, 1980, Eva Galle Green was born two minutes before her fraternal twin sister Joy.

Marlène Jobert, an actress and playwright, and Walter Green, a dentist and sometimes actor, are her parents (Au Hasard Balthazar directed by Robert Bresson).

Her father is Breton and Swedish, and she is the great-granddaughter of composer Paul Le Flem via him.

Green’s mother is of Algerian Jewish origin, hence she is Jewish. Green describes herself as a “secular Jew who never went to synagogue as a child” who feels “like a global citizen.”

Her family is described as “bourgeois,” and she claims her sister is extremely different from her.

Green’s hair is originally dark blonde, although she has coloured it brown since she was 15.

She is the maternal first cousin of singer Elsa Lunghini and actress Joséphine Jobert, as well as the niece of actress Marika Green. “Green” is a Swedish surname.

It is not derived from the English word “green,” which in Swedish is “grön.” The term “green” comes from the Swedish word “gren,” which literally means “tree branch.”

Growing up, she split her time between London and Ireland.

She was quiet in school and became interested in Egyptology after visiting the Louvre at the age of seven.

She chose to become an actor at the age of 14 after seeing Isabelle Adjani in The Story of Adele H. Her mother was initially concerned that an acting career would be too demanding for her sensitive daughter, but she eventually came to embrace her goals.

She then returned to Paris, where she appeared in a number of plays. Green said she “always selected the very wicked characters” in theatre school because “it’s a terrific way to deal with your everyday emotions.”

Private & early life

Green describes herself as “nerdy.” “When people first meet me, they find me quite frigid,” she adds. I maintain myself at a safe distance, which I believe is why I’m drawn to acting.

It enables me to put on a mask.” She lives alone and, according to her, has a quiet existence when she is not working. “I suppose people would be shocked to find out that I am a bit of a homebody,” she said in an interview when asked what people would be surprised to learn about her. I don’t enjoy going to crazy parties or partying.

After a long day of shooting, I enjoy returning home and unwinding in front of the fire with a bottle of wine and a nice book. “It’s a bit dull, isn’t it?”

Green’s hobbies include taxidermy and entomology, and she collects preserved skulls and insects.

Green acknowledged her propensity for playing explicit, sexually charged parts as “paradoxical,” considering her self-proclaimed timidity.

She made a witty remark, “I’m not sure why I do it like that. I need to see a therapist!”

Green also like dark, twisted characters because they give her a sense of freedom.

She described her character in Penny Dreadful as, “When I play Vanessa, it’s almost as if I’m not wearing a corset at all. People will believe that having fun in a programme like that is bad. However, I do.”

However, in order to avoid being typecast, she has attempted to play a range of parts.

Green is agnostic, yet she considers herself as “extremely spiritual” and holds a variety of ideas concerning supernatural entities.

Green has stated a desire to return to the stage. She claims she has no aspirations to work in Hollywood full-time because “the problem with Hollywood is that the studios are incredibly strong, they have far more influence than the filmmakers… at this point, my desire is just to find a decent screenplay.”

Harvey Weinstein made an unwanted move during a business meeting, but she pushed him away, she alleged in 2017.
