Anand Mahindra was born on May 1, 1955, in Bombay, India, to Harish and Indira Mahindra, the late industrialists. Anuja Sharma and Radhika Nath are Anand’s sisters.

Divya and Aalika are their two children.

He is the chairman of the Mahindra Group, a Mumbai-based corporate conglomerate, and an Indian billionaire businessman.

He received his early education at Lawrence School in Lovedale, and then moved on to Harvard University to study filmmaking and design, graduating magna cum laude in 1977.

He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1981.

Career

Anand began his career as an Executive Assistant to the Finance Director at Mahindra Ugine Steel Company Ltd (MUSCO) in 1981.

He became the Deputy Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., an Indian manufacturer of off-road vehicles and agricultural tractors, on April 4, 1991.

Nanhi Kali, a non-governmental organization in India that supports education for underprivileged children, was founded by him in 1996.

Anand was appointed as the Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd in April 1997, and then as the Vice-Chairman in 2001.

In August 2012, he succeeded his uncle, Keshub Mahindra, as Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of the Mahindra Group.
