Career
Anand began his career as an Executive Assistant to the Finance Director at Mahindra Ugine Steel Company Ltd (MUSCO) in 1981.
He became the Deputy Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., an Indian manufacturer of off-road vehicles and agricultural tractors, on April 4, 1991.
Nanhi Kali, a non-governmental organization in India that supports education for underprivileged children, was founded by him in 1996.
Anand was appointed as the Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd in April 1997, and then as the Vice-Chairman in 2001.
In August 2012, he succeeded his uncle, Keshub Mahindra, as Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of the Mahindra Group.
Anand was re-designated as Executive Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd in November 2016 and remained Chairman of the Mahindra Company.

Philanthropy
He is the founder of Nanhi Kali, an initiative in India that seeks to provide primary education to underprivileged children.
Anand claims that studying the humanities can help solve a variety of issues that occur as a result of interdependence in the world. He gave the Harvard Humanities Center a $10 million gift. The center was renamed the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard in honor of the gift.
Anand is also the chairman-for-life and a board member of the Naandi Foundation, an Indian charitable trust devoted to the country’s socio-economic growth.
