Nithya Menen was born on April 8, 1989, in Bangalore, Karnataka, to Malayali parents.
She previously stated in an interview that she never wanted to be an actor and instead wanted to be a journalist, but she soon realized that journalism was not for her, so she switched to filmmaking and enrolled in a cinematography school at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune.
She met B at the school’s admission exam.

Nithya had starred in an Indian English film called The Monkey Who Knew Too Much when she was eight years old, playing Tabu’s younger sister.
