Political career
Rama Rao campaigned for the Telugu Desam Party during the 2009 Indian general election in Andhra Pradesh from April to May.
On March 26, 2009, while en route to Hyderabad after electioneering, the SUV in which he was a passenger was slammed head-on by another car in Suryapet.
He and his buddies were injured after being flung from the SUV. He was treated in Secunderabad’s Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, where he made a full recovery.
Philanthropy
Rama Rao declared in 2009 that he planned to give Rs. 20 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help flood victims.
Rama Rao said in 2014 that he will give Rs. 20 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help victims of Cyclone Hudhud in Andhra Pradesh.
