Prior to becoming a full-time musician, he studied math at the famous Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi before becoming a civil engineer at PEC, Chandigarh, where he was introduced to new Punjabi music, which encouraged him to pursue “rap” writing.
He claims that if he hadn’t been a rapper, he would have become an IAS officer.
Badshah career
Badshah began his career in the music industry as “Cool Equal,” but then changed his name to Badshah.
He is also renowned for his catchphrase “It’s your boy Badshah,” which is sometimes styled as “Ish yo guy Baad-uh-sh-aa-ah.”
Badshah released his debut album, O.N.E. – Original Never Ends, in 2018.
On August 7, 2020, the rapper released a classic pop and hip-hop album titled ‘The Power of Dreams of a Kid.’

His 2019 song “Paagal” had 74.8 million views on YouTube in 24 hours, breaking the record for the most-viewed video on YouTube in a 24-hour period.
Due to his low amount of likes in the first 24 hours, BTS fans believed that the musician purchased the views in order to break the world record, but YouTube would not clarify whether the views were real or false.
The song was also absent from the week’s top 100 Global Top Music Videos chart.
However, Badshah claimed that the views were fraudulent, but confessed that his record label, Sony Music India, had purchased paid Google Ads.
Badshah’s record company, Sony Music India, had purchased adverts from Google and YouTube that included the video or attracted fans to it in some way.
Sony Music India released its single “Genda Phool” in 2020.
It was mixed with a Bengali traditional tune called “Boro Loker Biti Lo.”
